Start-up of OiR outdoor activities
As some of you may be aware, many of the outdoor activity groups have restarted under the Scottish Government Phase 3 social distancing guidelines.
This has meant the introduction of Risk Assessment check list which all Group Leaders must follow in order to ensure they are covered by OiR insurance.
Members attending the walking groups, for example, are divided into sub-groups of five personnel. There can be no interaction with the other sub-groups.
Each sub-group has a leader and starts the route at a different time. For “Track and Trace” purposes, the Group Leader will keep a record of the contact details of the personnel of each group.
The Group Leader will keep these records for 3 weeks in compliance with the Scottish Government’s current “Track and Trace” guidelines.
The groups which have already started under Phase 3 are:
Walking Groups, Tuesday and Saturday – Leader, Barrie Southwood
Hill and Mountain Walking Group – Leader, Dick Vernon
Cycling Group – Leader, Alan Bates
Outdoor Bowling – Leader, Robert Kerr
If the group leaders would like to submit photographs and/or a brief report of how their activity went under lockdown, then please forward to any member of the committee or directly to the web manager at email@example.com.
The indoor groups are unlikely to start up until Phase 4 begins, and even then, it will be in accordance with the conditions laid down by the individual venues’ governing body. So, for the indoor Group Leaders, be prepared to follow similar instructions re. Track and Trace in order to ensure that we are all covered by OiR insurance.
The wellbeing of our members must be our prime consideration. Like everyone, we look forward to the situation improving, but it is unlikely that things will return to normal for some months to come. The OiR office is now closed to personal visitors, but will be contactable by phone or email between 10am and 2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
We, the committee, are very concerned about members who may be extremely isolated during the coming months. We want to encourage any member who is in this situation to contact the office or a committee member for support and advice, or simply a chat. If you are aware of members in your group who may need this support, could you please let the office know so we can be pro-active by contacting them occasionally to check how they are coping. We will keep you updated with any news and updates will be posted on the website and Facebook page. ( www.oirayr.org.uk and facebook.com/OirAyr ) We will be sending out messages by email and with the new newsletter, but if you are able to let your group members know, we would be grateful if you could do so. Best wishes to you, stay safe!
